I will be providing daily temperature and precipitation/condition forecasts, and weekly outlook summaries for the week ahead.  During severe weather outbreaks and special weather events in the state of Minnesota, there may be added posts.

Forecast outlook for July 2nd through July 9th 2013:

Our active severe weather period has calmed down for now, as a high amplitude jet stream has taken shape over much of the US--with a huge ridge over the Western US, and a large trough that exists over the Eastern US.  The descent of the Jet into the trough is happening right over Western MN.  We are having moderate temperatures, and hazy skies in the area, as the Jet Stream is pulling smoke in from wildfires to our West and Northwest.  Typically for us to have more severe weather, we need a jet stream flow that is opposite of what we are seeing now, with a trough to our west, and a ridge in the east--or a jet stream that flows more from West to East, rather than North to South across the state.  As the week moves along, we can expect a slow climb from the low 80's, to the mid to upper 80's--with an increase in humidity.  A chance of storms will enter the picture as we near the 4th of July and into the weekend as well.
